Trauma Informed Yoga
The experience of Trauma affects the body and the mind. Yoga can be an effective complementary treatment for Trauma because it works with both the mind and the body, while also providing a safe community from which we can draw comfort and support.
Trauma-sensitive yoga helps us learn to calm our minds and regulate our physical responses and, thus, our emotions. We learn to recognize and tolerate physical sensations in a mindful and compassionate way and thereby regain a feeling of safety inside our bodies.
Furthermore, Trauma Informed YogaI encourages a sense of empowerment as students are encouraged to actively choose, decide and take action to what is relevant in their moment-to-moment situation.
